I had no idea that the life of one cute pooch named Sido made such a huge impact in the no-kill laws in SF. Thanks to Sido I had a new chance at life. If it wasn’t for this no-kill law, I would have been a goner when my original owner could no longer take care of me.
With all the protests going on in Greece, this story has popped up a couple of times and I want to pass this along to you as well.
He is an unlikely activist, his name is Kanellos, . He is a dog that has been seen at nearly every demonstration in Athens over the last two years has turned up again during the recent protests against new austerity measures. He’s a brave friend to the protesters and a hero to us here in the states. Keep them on their toes Kanellos!
To take a look at the photographic profile of Kanellos go here.
Hello, name is Pig, I’ll be posting from time to time and thought an introduction was the right thing to do.
Here’s my stats
I’m a full blooded Chihuahua.
I may look like an Albino but check the nose, its black not pink so I’m just white with tan spots. I’m 5 years old and have been living in California for the last 3 1/2 years.
I’m very friendly, love to sit on laps and will fetch if I’m in the mood to play. I also love going on car rides, and when I say Love it I mean LOVE IT! Its my favorite thing to do, other than go on walks, but that should be a given.
I was trained really well at a young age so I get along well with other dogs, people and animals.
I wanted to share an amazing story about stray dogs that have adapted to their environment in some interesting ways. Russian scientist have been studying these stray dogs and have realized that they have been using the subway system to gain a larger territory, find food, and have shelter from the elements. Using the escalator to get to street level and coming up with some creative ways to get fed. For example, they will sneak up behind an unsuspecting man eating and bark loudly, scaring him into dropping his food and then eating it! That’s incredibly smart and a feat for an animal to learn that on their own.
Here’s an excerpt:
“Russian scientists say that Moscow stray dogs became much smarter. The four legged oldest human’s friends demonstrate real smartness such as riding the Moscow metro every morning to get from their suburban places of living to the fat regions of Moscow center.”

Oh this article made me feel so fortunate that I found a home. Many of my cousins are winding up in shelters just like I did a few years ago. I was found 2 years ago at Wonderdog in San Franciso where Linda fostered me until I found my new forever home. Is there anyone out there who wants to adopt one of my cousins? We make wonderful gifts!
I love to roll around in Dolores Park. Look at this abandoned yoga mat! Boy does it smell, maybe this was from a homeless person, but I can’t get enough of it. Oh mom is telling me to get off. Right.
Rolling around next to the stinky yoga mat
Mom was listening to her iPod and looking at some book. She said it was Wagner’s opera Tristan and Isolde. What does she care if I’m stinky. Well, she cared and I went straight home and got a bath. Ugh. Hate baths, love baths after though…running down the hallway like a valkyrie out of hell. Ha, isn’t that Wagner too? I’m such a cultured pom chi. Hehe.
So it’s really cold in SF today and I’m stuck in the office with mom. Mom has to stay at the office late today so she thought she’d bring me. I don’t especially care for the office even though there are comfy places for me to sleep, lots of treats, and I get to be near mom.
Even though it’s not really comfy, it’s warm here by the heater.
Cheeky at work near the heater
And, did you know it was my 1-year anniversary as mom’s new pom-chi. She adopted me on February 9, 2008. All I got was peanut butter. I think mom will have a party for me soon.
This weekend I went with mom to Duboce Park Cafe with mom’s friend Caren. Remember all the fun I had in doggy heaven a few weeks back with my Norwegian Lunderhund friends Eloise and Filo…Well Eloise and my pal Filo were there too! We scavenged for treats on the ground and later went to Duboce Park.
Cheeky the Pom Chi, Diego the Pom, and Pablo another Pom Chi
Well, after Duboce Park we went back to the cafe and mom tied me up much to my dismay. Then another lady came by with 2 of the cutest dogs ever. Diego is the pomeranian and he’s the dad of Pablo a pom-chi or pomhuahua like me! Are we the cutest?
While on doggy heaven vacation at our friend Caren’s house, me Cheeky, and Filo and Eloise (who are norwegian lundehunds) really wanted some roast chicken! Well mom and her friend Jason decided it would be fun to make us work for our chicken. You know, I’m a one-trick dog, I can only jump on command. I admit, I’m not the smartest dog out there, I don’t have to be, I’m cute. Caren’s house has a dog door. I can get in the house, but haven’t quite figured out how to go out the house so I need to wait for mom to open the door.
Well, each of us has our talents, right? Eloise can speak and Filo can dance! Check us out. jason is filming and mom is risking her fingers.
Sorry adoring fans, I haven’t blogged in a while as I’ve been on a mini vacation. Mom’s friend Caren is on vacation so we are staying at her house watching her 2 norwegian lundehunds. What funny dogs they are. they have 6 freaky toes on each paw!
Well Filo is my newest bestest friend. We’ve been having such a great time! Mom made this video for me, what do you think? Leave me a comment if you love me.
